A contemporary green glass art ornament handcrafted in the Lake District; inspired by the natural landscape.
The freestanding wave was handmade from transparent fern green and crystal clear artisan glass.
The textured nature of the clear glass adds additional visual (and tactile) interest.
It is approximately 23 cm (W) x 6 cm (H) x 3 cm (D).
It is a stand-alone piece of glass art suitable for display on any flat surface.
The wave looks particularly stunning when placed in front of a window or other direct light source, as its translucent nature allows light to shine through and reflect a subtle green colour onto the surrounding surfaces.
It could be used in the evening as a table or shelf decoration with a tealight or small votive candle placed behind it.
A little more about the HANDCRAFTED PROCESS: In order to create the wave, I first cut fern green sheet glass by hand into the desired shape. I then arranged the cut pieces on a clear glass base and added crystal clear glass frit (crushed glass). After assembling the piece, I placed it in the kiln and subjected it to a contour fuse. This allowed the individual pieces to fuse together but still retain some of their original shape and texture. The panel was then cold-worked before being fired once more. Next, it was placed in another kiln on top of a ceramic mould and fired a final time to shape the piece into an s curve.
PACKAGING: All items will be securely wrapped in bubble wrap and posted in a well padded box. Although not always feasible, whenever possible, I attempt to reuse packaging in order to reduce the environmental impact.
