A minimalist turquoise glass art wave handcrafted in the Lake District; inspired by the natural landscape.
The ornamental wave was handmade from transparent turquoise and crystal clear artisan glass.
It is approximately 23 cm (L) x 6 cm (H) x 3 cm (D).
The textured nature of the clear glass adds additional visual and tactile interest.
It is a stand-alone piece of art suitable for display on any flat surface, such as a mantlepiece, bathroom shelf or windowsill.
The freestanding wave looks particularly stunning placed in front of a window or other direct light source, as the translucent nature of the glass allows light to shine through and reflect colour onto the surrounding surfaces.
It could be used in the evening as a table or shelf decoration with a tealight or small votive candle placed behind it.
***As each wave is individually handcrafted there will be some variation from the images shown. Please message me prior to purchase if you would like a photo of the actual item in stock.
A little more about THE HANDCRAFTED PROCESS: In order to create the wave, I first cut transparent turquoise artisan sheet glass (by hand) into the desired shapes. (The glass was cut in a way to mimic the flow of water). I then placed the turquoise glass on a clear glass base and added crystal clear glass frit (crushed glass). After assembling the piece, it was placed in the kiln and subjected to a contour fuse. This allowed the individual pieces to fuse together but still retain some of their original shape and texture. The wave was then cold-worked and fired once more. Next, it was placed on top of a ceramic mould in another kiln and fired a final time to shape the piece into an s-curve.
PACKAGING: All items will be securely wrapped in bubble wrap and posted in a well padded box. Although not always feasible, whenever possible, I attempt to reuse packaging in order to reduce the environmental impact.
