A small minimalist aqua glass art wave handcrafted in the Lake District; inspired by the natural landscape.
The freestanding ornamental wave (s curved panel) was handmade from transparent aqua and crystal clear artisan glass.
It is approximately 15 cm (L) x 6 cm (H), with a curvature of about 2.5 cm deep.
The textured nature of the clear glass and interior surface adds additional visual (and tactile) interest.
It is a stand-alone piece of glass art suitable for display on any flat surface.
It looks particularly stunning placed in front of a window or other direct light source, as the translucent nature of the wave allows light to shine through and reflect colour onto the surrounding surfaces.
It could be used in the evening as a table or shelf decoration with a tealight or small candle placed behind it.
A little more about THE HANDCRAFTED PROCESS: In order to create the wave, I first cut aqua artisan sheet glass (by hand) into the desired shape. (The glass was cut in a way to mimic the flow of water). I then placed the aqua glass on a clear glass base and added crystal clear glass frit (crushed glass). After assembling the piece, it was placed in the kiln and subjected to a contour fuse. This allowed the individual pieces to fuse together but still retain some of their original shape and texture. The wave was then cold worked and fired once more. Next, it was placed in the kiln on top of a ceramic mould and fired a final time to shape the piece into an s-curve.
***As each wave is individually handcrafted there will be some variation from the images shown. Please message me prior to purchase if you would like a photo of the actual item in stock.
PACKAGING: All items will be securely wrapped in bubble wrap and posted in a well padded box. Although not always feasible, whenever possible, I attempt to reuse packaging in order to reduce the environmental impact.
